Business Entry Point: http://www.business.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx; This site has been set up with the fundamental idea, that should you require any business information from any government agency, regardless whether it be federal or state, you should be able to go to the one web site and find what you're looking for. This is the site. On the home page of this site, it lists some of the information that can be sourced - tax, registering a business, licences, grants and financial assistance, home-based business, employing people, tenders, import and export, retail leasing and so on.
NSW Dept of Fair Trading: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/default.html; This site is of particular importance to incorporated associations, besides having resources applicable to all businesses operating in NSW.
Australian Securities & Investment Commission: http://www.asic.gov.au/asic/asic.nsf; ASIC is in charge of the Corporations Act and oversees financial services legislation. It has a very good watchdog site called "Fido's" and can be used for the purposes of looking up company information.
